The Queen opens Diana memorial fountain

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, has today opened a national memorial to the late Diana, Princess of Wales,.

The Prince of Wales, Prince William and Prince Harry also attended the opening which took place in London's Hyde Park.

After being greeted by Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Tessa Jowell MP, the Queen and other members of the Royal Family met Earl Spencer and the Spencer family.

In her address The Queen paid tribute to “a remarkable human being” and said how Diana's tragic death had held the attention of the world.

Queen to unveil Princess Di memorial
The Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in London's Hyde Park will be officially opened by the Queen next month, it has been announced today. The Queen will be joined by their Royal Highnesses the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, and Princes William and Harry for the ceremony which takes place at 11am on July 6.

Public Name New Neighbourhoods In Olympic Park
Five new residential areas that will be built on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been named following a public competition. Almost 2,000 people submitted their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, inspired by factors such as the future design for the area, its history or the Games themselves.

Queen denies 'snubbing' Charles and Camilla's wedding
The Queen will not attend the civil marriage ceremony of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, it has been announced. However, the Queen will still attend the church blessing at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle and host the reception.

Queen And Prince Philip To Meet Pope Frances in Rome
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will visit Rome on Thursday 3rd April, where they will have an audience with the Pope, according to Buckingham Palace. "Her Majesty and His Royal Highness are visiting at the invitation of the President of Italy," said palace officials.

Prince Charles to marry Camilla Parker-Bowles
The Prince of Wales has announced that he will marry Camilla Parker-Bowles this spring in a wedding set to take place at Windsor Castle on April 8. In a statement announcing the wedding, the 57-year-old Prince of Wales said: "Mrs Parker-Bowles and I are absolutely delighted. It will be a very special day for us and our families.
