10-year-old British child killed in Crete
A 10-year-old British boy has died and three other children and an adult have been injured in a coach crash on the Mediterranean island of Crete this morning.
The crash happened at midnight (2am GMT) when the coach, which was carrying 30 British tourists, was hit by a truck close to the resort of Malia.
The BBC has reported that the coach was hit by the truck, and a car then careered into the vehicles before ploughing into a group of tourists who were returning to their apartments. The driver of the car, who is reported to have been over the legal drink drive limit, has been arrested. Two other drivers have also been arrested.
A nine-year-old boy is reported to have sustained serious brain injuries. A teenage girl is also in a serious condition.

During a visit to the scene near Alpe d'Huez, French transport minister Frederic Cuvillier said 63-year-old Maurice Wrightson had displayed "remarkable courage".

It has been revealed a British schoolboy was among the 28 people, 22 of them children, killed when a coach crashed into the wall of a tunnel in Switzerland. The coach was returning from a school skiing trip. Sebastian Bowles, 11, was a pupil at St Lambertus School in Heverlee, Belgium.
