Danish Olympic athlete charged over Briton's death
A Danish Olympic athlete has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a British man who was hit by a car in Athens last night.
According to the BBC, 45-year-old Errol Strachan died after he was knocked down in Posidonos Avenue at around 9pm local time (7pm GMT). Mr Strachan had been working with a catering company in the Greek capital.
Niklas Holm, a 23-year-old sailor who was named Denmark sailor of the year in 2002, appeared before a Greek court today charged with manslaughter and speeding. He was released on bail.
Danish officials have said that Mr Holm, who next competes in the Star class competition on Saturday, will be allowed compete in the games.
A member of the Danish Olympic team told Reuters news agency that a psychologist had been flown out to see Mr Holm whom he described as "very upset" over the incident.

Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.

A man charged over protests against cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed has been granted bail. Mizanhur Rahman, 23, from Edmonton, north London, was charged with soliciting murder and inciting racial hatred in protests outside the Danish Embassy in London on February 3.
