Eight men facing terror charges appear in court
Eight men charged with terrorism-related offences have appeared in court today.
The eight men, who have all have been charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit public nuisance, appeared at Bow Street Magistrates Court sitting at Belmarsh this morning.
They were all remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey on August 25.
The eight are: Mohammed Naveed Bhatti, 24, from Harrow, Middlesex; Abdul Aziz Jalil, 31, from Luton, Bedfordshire; Omar Abdul Rehman, 20, from Bushey, Hertfordshire; Junade Feroze, 28, from Blackburn, Lancashire; Zia Ul Haq, 25, from Paddington, London; and Dhiren Barot, 32, Qaisar Shaffi, 25, and Nadeem Tarmohammed, 26, all from Willesden, London.
The eight men are alleged to have "conspired together with other persons unknown to murder other persons contrary to Section 1(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977 and commit public nuisance by the use of radioactive materials, toxic gases, chemicals and/or explosives to cause disruption, fear or injury contrary to Section 1 (1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977".
Mr Barot, Mr Tarmohammed and Mr Shaffi have also been charged with possession of documents likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
A ninth man, Matthew Phillip Monks, 32, from Sudbury, London, has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and will appear in court separately.
All nine men were arrested on August 3 and have been held at a central London police station.

Charges Over Carling Cup Violence

French Court Postpones Extradition Decision
Magistrates in France have today postponed a decision on the extradition of Robert Williams, to the UK, after he was found with a teenage girl from Lincolnshire. Fifteen-year-old Laura Stainforth, was discovered in France last week with Mr Williams after going missing from her home.
