Dockside crane collapses onto deck of HMS Invincible
A crane driver is being treated in hospital for injuries sustained following the collapse of a large dockside crane onto the deck of HMS Invincible.
The aircraft carrier was undergoing a routine maintenance in Portsmouth harbour when a large crane on the jetty, which was attempting to lift a cherry picker from the deck of the ship at the time, collapsed onto the deck.
The crane driver was freed from the cab by emergency services after over an hour. He sustained minor head injuries in the accident.
A number of naval personnel were also treated for minor injuries and shock following the incident.
An MoD spokesperson described the accident at HM Naval Base Portsmouth as "serious" and confirmed that a number of naval personnel had received treatment for minor injuries and shock.
Following the accident, Portsmouth Harbour authorities have restricted ship movements around Invincible.
The aircraft carrier is reported to have received only minor damage in the incident.

Child Killed By Devon House Blast
A child, believed to be a nine-year-old girl, has died and three other people have been injured in an explosion at a house in Devon. The girl received fatal injuries when a wall blew out as she walked past. A woman with her was treated for minor injuries at Derriford Hospital.

Taxi Lands Upside Down On Railway Line After Crashing Through Barrier
A taxi has crashed through a barrier and landed upside down on a railway line in West Yorkshire. According to reports the car collided with a barrier next to the railway line on Victoria Street in Shipley. Paramedics were called to the scene at 09:10 on Friday morning, the driver suffered minor injuries.

Tanker driver dies as his vehicle veers off flyover
A man has died after the tanker he was driving plunged 20 feet from a motorway flyover near Manchester earlier this morning. The driver has not yet been named. Two cars and a lorry were also involved in the smash but initial reports suggest that there were only minor injuries.
