UK faces more cold weather
The wintry conditions are set to bring more misery to motorists in England and Scotland, as forecasters have warned that the worst of weather is yet to come.
Heavy snow falls overnight affected Edinburgh, as well as areas of Kent, Norfolk and Lincolnshire today. The weather also forced schools to close in North East England, Lincolnshire, Kent and Scotland.
The Met Office has warned that the cold weather will continue through to Friday morning, with further spells of snow expected. The Met Office warned that heavy snow and ice are expected in Eastern and Central areas of Britains.
A period of persistent snow is expcted to extend westwards over England by tomorrow morning, with the heaviest snow expected to be in the East and over hills, where 5 to 15 cm of snow is likely. Central areas are predicted to receive between 2 to 5 cm of snowfall, while 1 to 2 cm is predicted in far Western areas.
The Highways Agency has said that it would be gritting roads across England overnight into Thursday in preparation for the morning rush hour. The Agency is advising all road users to check the weather forecasts and road conditions before they set out on their journey and to slow down in poor visibility.

Cold weather set to continue
The current cold spell gripping the UK is set to continue, the Met Office has warned, with more snow showers expected across England and Wales today. South East England could see accumulations of snow of between 3 to 7cm, due to persistent snow showers, the Met Office warned.

More snow expected to affect UK overnight
The Highway Agency has warned motorists to take extra care on the roads tonight and tomorrow morning, as more snow and low temperatures have been forecast for many areas of the country. The Met Office has warned that snow and black ice could pose major problems for motorists in central and southern areas on Friday.

Heavy snowfalls may affect north and north east
Much of the UK, and possibly parts of Ireland, are braced for a cold snap that may bring heavy snowfalls. From Sunday night the UK will see a radical change in the mild weather as a strong northerly wind lowers temperatures. The Met Office has said that the freezing weather is expected to last for several days.

Melting Snow Raises Concerns Over Flooding
The Met Office has issued a fresh warning as further snowfall is expected across much of Scotland, northern England and the Midlands on Friday. There is now an additional danger of rising water levels as snow melts and rain continues. The Environment Agency has two flood warnings and over 30 alerts in place.
