Three injured in car explosion in Madrid
A car bomb believed to be an attack by the Basque separatist terror group ETA has exploded in Madrid, injuring three people.
The explosion occured minutes after a Basque Gara newspaper received a telephone warning this morning. Police have sealed off the area in the San Blas district of north-eastern Madrid where the blast happened. Eyewitnesses said a plume of smoke could be seen rising above the city.
The explosion appeared to be in defiance of a vote by the Spanish Parliament last week, which granted the government permission to open peace talks with the militant separatist group if it laid down its arms.
