Snowdonia murder - three arrested

Police have confirmed that three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman, whose body was found in Snowdonia, North Wales at the weekend.

Walkers found the body of 45-year-old divorcee Kathyrn Lorraine Jones in undergrowth near Trawsfynydd on Saturday. She was found wearing only tracksuit bottoms and had suffered multiple injuries to her head and body. However, police said there was no evidence of sexual assault.

The cause of death has yet to be established. Police believe that Ms Jones may have been murdered somewhere else and her body dumped in Snowdonia some time between Wednesday and Saturday last week.

North Wales police arrested a man and a woman, both from Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, last night. Another man was arrested this morning. All three are in custody and are due to be questioned by police today.

Officers and forensic scientists are conducting searches of the suspects’ homes.

Ms Jones, who is white, 5ft 4ins tall and of slim to medium build, with cropped bleached blonde hair and brown eyes, is believed to have a teenage son. She is also understood to have links to both the Leeswood area, near Mold and Ellesmere Port Cheshire. Police said that she is known by the name of Kathyrn, but also by the names Kathy and Lorraine.

Police said that they had identified one of Ms Jones’ family members – an uncle – who was assisting them with further identification information. However, they have urged anyone with any other information to contact them.

A police spokesperson said: “We are still desperate for information and background from close friends and anyone who may have known her, especially people from the Leeswood and Ellesmere Port areas.”
