Clean up begins after Birmingham tornado
A huge clean-up operation is taking place in Birmingham, after a freak tornado ripped through the city on Thursday.
Birmingham was hit by winds of up to 130mph on Thursday afternoon, which damaged buildings, ripped roofs from houses, over-turned cars and uprooted trees.
Twenty people were injured during the tornado and three people received treatment for serious injuries.
Hundreds of homes are believed to have been damaged during the high winds, which began around 14:45 BST on Thursday.
The King’s Heath, Sparkbrook, Balsall Heath, Moseley areas were all affected by the severe weather.
Birmingham City Council used two sports centres to house residents forced to leave their homes due to the conditions.
Structural engineers are now examining properties hit by the tornado and assessing the damage.

Birmingham struck by second tornado
Birmingham is believed to have been struck by another tornado as severe weather continued to affect the UK. A roof was ripped off a house in Dovey Road, Moseley by the high winds and a nearby road was closed when it became littered with debris. It is understood that no one was in the house at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

PO Raiders Guilty Of Murder
Three men were today convicted of the murder of Craig Hodson-Walker who was shot dead in a raid at a Post Office in Worcestershire. A fourth member of the gang was cleared of murder and attempted murder but had already admitted attempted robbery.

Tornado wrecked homes to be demolished
Several houses in the area of north-west London hit by a tornado yesterday (Thursday) will have to be demolished. Yet more properties have had to be cordoned off as they are too dangerous to enter with safety.

Tornado hits London street
A tornado that struck a north London street has injured six people, and caused severe damaged to several houses and cars. The tornado which lasted just seconds ripped off roofs, tore down walls in Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise at around11am this morning.

Ten Arrested In Drug Raids
Nine men and one woman have been arrested in a series of police raids across Birmingham, Solihull and Smethwick. Police carried out the raids early on Thursday morning making ten arrests on suspicion of conspiring to supply dangerous class A drugs like heroin and crack cocaine.
