Trainee pilot jailed on passport charges
A trainee British pilot was jailed for one year today on bogus passport charges.
Zayead Christopher Hajaig, 36, from Ilford, Essex, was arrested when he returned from the US where he had sparked a terror alert by attempting to upgrade his pilot's licence while training in Atlanta where the 9/11 suicide bombers had trained as pilots.
However, learning that he was wanted by the FBI and concerned that he would be detained in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, he managed to evade US security and returned to the UK travelling on a false passport under the name Barry Felton, a co-worker.
He was arrested when he presented himself to police on his return to the UK after using a false passport.
Hajaig, who has been placed on a 'no fly" list, is still wanted by the US Department of Justice on three alleged illegal-alien weapons offences, although no extradition proceedings are currently believed to be in progress.
