Court case baby makes first visit home
Severely disabled Charlotte Wyatt has been allowed home from the hospital for the first time since she was born two years ago.
Charlotte’s father, Darren Wyatt, collected her from St Mary’s hospital in Portsmouth today to take her home for a brief visit with her mother, Debbie.
Two members of staff from the hospital supervised the visit.
Mr Wyatt said that it was “very exciting” to have Charlotte home and said that the couple hoped to have her home for Christmas.
Charlotte suffers from serious brain, lung and kidney damage and has not left St Mary’s hospital in Portsmouth since she was born, three months prematurely.
She was only five inches long and weighed only 1lb when she was born and she was not expected to survive.
Last October, Charlotte’s parents won the right for her to be resuscitated if she fell ill, reversing a previous decision, which allowed doctors not to resuscitate Charlotte if she stopped breathing.
