Scolari offered England job
Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari has been offered the job of England manager, it has been reported.
The 57-year-old, who led Brazil to victory in the 2002 World Cup and is currently the manager of Portugal, would take over from Sven-Goran Eriksson following this summer's World Cup tournament in Germany if he accepted the post.
Football Association chief executive Brian Barwick was in Lisbon for talks with Scolari on Thursday.
However, the FA has refused to confirm reports that Scolari has been offered the position.
It is thought that the Brazilian has a gentleman's agreement with the Portuguese FA not to commit to another job until his current contract expires in July.
However, it is understood that part of the FA's talks are about waiving this agreement.
The FA board is due to meet again next Thursday and had wanted to be in a position to finalise its selection by then.
Other potential candidates for the England job included Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren, Bolton manager Sam Allardyce, Alan Curbishley from Charlton and former Celtic boss Martin O'Neill.
