Second man dies following arson attack
A second man has died following an arson attack on a south London convenience store.
Hamidi Hamidullah, 31, an Afghan national, was seriously injured when the Pricecutter store he was working in was attacked with a firebomb last Thursday afternoon.
He was left critically ill following the attack at the Clapham Road store. One of his colleagues, Khizar Hayat, 40, burned to death in the fire, while two other colleagues managed to escape with minor burns.
A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack, which is believed to have been racially motivated.
The attack has been linked to two earlier arson attacks in the same area.
The first incident took place at a newsagent's in Tulse Hill on April 14. A bottle filled with accelerant was thrown into the premises, hitting a customer in the legs and causing burns.
The third incident took place at an off-license in South Norwood on April 20, when another petrol-filled bottle was thrown into the store. No-was injured in the attack.
