Murder inquiry launched following discovery of couple's bodies
A murder inquiry has been launched following the discovery of two bodies at a house in Derby last night.
The bodies of a 48-year-old man and a woman in her forties were found in the house in Wiltshire Road, Chaddesden on Monday night.
Police had been called to the house around 9.15pm following a 999 call regarding a possible domestic disturbance.
A weapon was discovered at the scene and forensic examinations are continuing.
Derbyshire Police confirmed that the couple were married and may have recently separated. They had five children between them, but none of them are understood to have been in the house at the time of the murders.
Detective Superintendent Andy Hough said: "We are still in the very early stages of the investigation, but our initial inquiries suggest this was a result of a domestic incident.
"At this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident but this is subject to ongoing inquiries and a post-mortem examination.
"We would appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard any activity around the house last night or in the last few days to let us know.
"We are also aware that the couple had been in Coral's Bookmakers in Wiltshire Road last night and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire police on: 0845 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
