Briton jailed for Thailand killing
A British man has been jailed for ten years in Thailand for the murder of his girlfriend.
Paul Chetwynd-Talbot, 31, from Bristol, turned himself into police after killing Debra O'Hanlon, 31, from Northampton in August last year.
He told police that he had thrown Miss O'Hanlon onto a bed during a drunken argument, breaking her neck.
He then attempted to commit suicide by slitting his wrists.
Miss O'Hanlon's body was found in a hotel room on August 2, 2005. She had suffered a broken neck and stab wounds.
The couple ran a bar in Phuket, but their business collapsed following the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004. They returned to England, but Chetwynd-Talbot returned to Phuket in May last year in an attempt to rebuild his business. Miss O'Hanlon had joined him in July.
Chetwynd-Talbot had been originally sentenced to 15 years, but a judge in Phuket reduced his sentence to ten years because of his co-operation with the court.
