Delayed Nimrod flight takes off
A Nimrod flight, grounded on Tuesday morning for safety checks, has taken off from RAF Kinloss.
The Nimrod flight, which was due to take off from the base in Scotland on Tuesday morning, was delayed over a "minor technical issue", the Ministry of Defence said.
A Nimrod MR2 crashed in Afghanistan on Saturday, killing 14 military personnel, twelve of whom were based at RAF Kinloss.
However, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence said that the technical issue discovered on Tuesday was not related to the crash.
All non-essential flights were grounded from RAF Kinloss on Monday as a mark of respect to those who died in the crash at the weekend.
A four-man board of inquiry is investigating the cause of the crash, which is currently believed to be a technical fault.
