Man jailed for blowing up speed camera
A man who blew up a roadside speed camera after he was caught speeding has been sentenced to four months in prison at Minshull Crown Court.
Craig Moore, 28, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, had pleaded guilty to charge of damaging property at a hearing last month.
The railway worker had used chemicals used in his job to destroy the camera, which had captured him speeding in Hyde, Greater Manchester, believing that it would destroy the evidence.
However, images of his van were retained by the camera.
The explosion caused £11,700 of damage to the camera.
Moore had claimed that he destroyed the camera because he was afraid he would lose his job.
