House prices surge ahead
UK house prices are continuing to surge ahead at their fastest rate for four years, according to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
According to the report the rise, the fastest seen since October 2002, is as a result of demand for housing in London continuing to exceed supply.
The buoyant housing market has seen a return of gazumping with some properties being described as "grossly overvalued."
The RICS report is in line with trends reported in the latest Halifax and Nationwide market surveys, which report a substantial number of news mortgages being approved.
