Teen jailed for love rival murder

A teenage girl has been jailed for life for murdering a woman she saw as her love rival.

Kelly Ross, now 17, stabbed mother-of-two Tracey Meade, 39, twice in the heart after luring her to garages in South Norwood in south London.

Ross, who pleaded guilty to murder, was just 16 when the killing took place in May 2006.

The court heard how Ross, from Croydon, south London, then went to the cinema to watch an X-Men film with her boyfriend Patrick Dawkins, 19.

The court was told that Ross had formed a relationship with Mr Dawkins while babysitting for Ms Meade, whom Mr Dawkins had been having a relationship with for more than a year.

Ms Meade, who suspected that she was pregnant with Mr Dawkins child, had given him an ultimatum to end his relationship with Ross.

At sentencing, Judge Gerald Gordon told Ross that the killing had been motivated out of jealousy.

Ross was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of ten-and-a-half years.
