Ten-year-old given Asbo

A 10-year-old boy from South Yorkshire has become one of the youngest children to receive an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo).

Lewis Green, from Kexborough in Barnsley was given an Asbo after the district judge ruled that he was beyond his parents control.

The court heard that Lewis had terrorised neighbours, threatened other children with knives, assaulted his family and stole from them in order to buy alcohol and drugs and damaged property.

District Judge Nalla Lawrence placed Lewis under a night-time curfew and banned him from communicating with six people who lived near him.

He is also banned from possessing knives and screwdrivers in public, possessing a 'bong' or other drug paraphernalia, having alcohol or being drunk and throwing stones or eggs.

The full Asbo was imposed following an application from Barnsley Council, who had successfully applied for an interim Asbo last November.

Lewis' mother Stephanie Green, 39, claimed that her son's behaviour had improved since he was prescribed an anger management drugs three months ago.
