PlayStation 3 on sale in Europe
The PlayStation 3 (PS3) has been launched in Europe, as Sony aims to retake the gaming market from Microsoft and Nintendo.
While the PlayStation remains strong it has lost ground in recent years to Microsoft's XBox360 and Nintendo's Wii.
The London launch saw Sony provide a free 46" HDTV and the taxi fare to get the boxes home to those who bought the first 100 PS3 systems.
Sony is looking to retake market share with its PS3 gaming system that boasts a Blu-Ray DVD and online connection capability for £425.
Though as the launch promotion highlighted, only those with an HDTV will see the full benefits of the state-of-the-art system.
Figures form the US indicate that the rival Nintendo Wii is outselling the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
The PS3's European launch, which was to have take place before Christmas, has been delayed by four months, but the strength of the Sony's PlayStation brand is expected to see sales for the PS3 pick up quickly.
Several must-have games are expected to be released for the system later this year.

Search Resumes For Sailor Pulled Overboard
A man has fallen from a cargo ship moored on the River Trent in North Lincolnshire on Wednesday, as winds hit 90mph in parts of the UK. A search operation launched yesterday had to be called off due to the weather conditions. It has resumed this morning. It is thought that the sailor became tangled in wires and pulled overboard.

Future Lawyers Get 'Life Coaches' To Remove Barriers To Law
Budding lawyers seeking advice and support in their efforts to join the legal profession will be helped by a Government initiative launched today by Justice Minister Lord Bach. The project, 'Barriers Leading into Law,' will look into obstacles facing students trying to pursue a career in law and how to overcome them.

BAE Systems To Announce £1.9bn Deal With Saudi Arabia
British defence giant BAE have announced it has signed a £1.9bn ($3bn) deal with Saudi Arabia to supply Hawk trainer jets. Trade union Unite have now said that the news means 218 jobs at the East Yorkshire factory where the aircraft is made will now be saved.
