Eight years for papergirl assault
A 44-year-old man form Aberdeenshire has been jailed for eight years for the attempted rape of a 13-year-old papergirl.
James Murison forced the girl into his house, removed her clothes, placed a pillowcase over her head and sexually assaulted her.
Murison who is from Huntly admitted assault with attempt to rape was jailed for eight years at Aberdeen High Court.
Sentencing Murison, Judge Lord Hodge said: "You have harmed your victim, who was a child, by your sexual abuse and had the police not rescued her, it is not clear how the incident would have ended. You seem to have little insight into the harm your actions have caused."
Relatives branded Murison as a "fiend".
During the trial the court heard how Murison had tied up the girl in a bedroom, but she had managed to get free, open a window and call for help.
When released Murison will be on a licence for eight years following his release.
