£1M reward for missing Madeleine
A businessman has offered a £1 million reward for the safe return of three-year-old Madeleine McCann.
Stephen Winyard, the owner of a Scottish health spa, made the offer through The Times newspaper.
"When I saw their faces, I felt frustrated that no one else had yet come forward offering a substantial reward, and felt so compelled to do so myself," said the 57-year-old father of three.
Mr Winyard's offer is believed to have been passed to the McCann family for consideration, but it is unclear whether Portugal's laws will allow it to be formally put to the public.
Meanwhile, Portuguese police have obtained CCTV images of a blonde woman and two men seen with a girl matching Madeleine's description at a petrol station near Praia de Luz.
Police are said to be investigating these reports and are also looking into reports of a blonde woman seen acting suspiciously near Madeleine's bedroom on the night of the disappearance.
In a press conference, Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa said that an area of 200 square kilometres had been scoured for clues since the girl vanished over a week ago. Mr Sousa said that each area had been covered more than once and "the results are zero".
