SNP and Greens reach agreement
The Scottish National Party (SNP) and Scottish Green Party have struck a deal on working together in the Scottish Parliament.
It will see the Greens back SNP leader Alex Salmond's nomination as First Minister next week.
The agreement, which falls short of a coalition, follows five days of negotiations between the parties in the aftermath of the Nationalists' election victory last week.
Party leaders said they will work together to bring in early legislation to reduce climate-change pollution every year, and oppose the building of new nuclear power stations.
The agreement will see one of the two Green MSPs nominated as convener on a Holyrood committee.
The two parties are united in the belief that Scotland can be more successful with independence and will work to extend the responsibilities of the Scottish Parliament.
