British soldier killed in Afghanistan
A British solider has been killed in the Helmand province in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.
The MoD said that the soldier, who is from the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglican Regiment, died as a result of "enemy action".
The soldier's family have been informed, the MoD confirmed, and they have requested a 24-hour period of grace before his name is released.
The latest death comes just days after Guardsman Daniel Probyn from 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards died in Afghanistan on Saturday.
Guardsman Probyn died in an explosion during an offensive operation to clear a Taliban stronghold on the outskirts of the town of Garmsir in southern Helmand.
Four soldiers from the battalion were also injured in the incident.

British Soldier Dies During Parachute Training Exercise
A British Soldier has died while taking part in a parachute training expedition in Germany, it has been announced. Cpl Ali Woodford, 26, based in Beachley Barracks in Gloucestershire, died on 29 September. He had previously served as a heavy machine gun operator in Afghanistan and was a soldier in 1st Battalion The Rifles.

The Ministry of Defence has named the British soldier killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on Tuesday night. Sergeant Christian Hickey, of the 1st Battalion the Coldstream Guards, died as a result of his injuries, following the explosion, which took place around 11:23 local time in Basra on Tuesday night.
