Man arrested after woman's fire death
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a young woman who was deliberately set on fire in Merseyside.
The woman, who has not yet been identified, died in hospital after being found on Monday night suffering from serious burns.
The woman, believed to be in her early twenties, knocked on the door of a house in Blindfoot Lane in the Rainford area of St Helen's around 9pm on Monday begging for help.
She was taken to hospital, but died later. A post-mortem examination has revealed that she died from severe burns.
The man was arrested shortly before midnight on Tuesday in the Croxteth area of Liverpool and was taken to a police station in Merseyside where he will be questioned later today.
Police said that they were following "positive lines of enquiry" in their efforts to identify the woman.

Baby Death Mother Named
The British woman charged with causing the death of her newborn baby in a hotel room in Crete has been named. Leah Andrew, from London, has been charged with infantide after being arrested in Malia on Tuesday. Ms Andrew was rushed to hospital by local residents after giving birth alone in her room.

Paisley Woman's Death Is 'Suspicious'
A woman's body has been found at a house in Cowal Drive, Paisley, Renfrewshire. Police have said they are treating the death as "suspicious". At around 2.30pm on Thursday, police were called to the property where they found the woman's body. A section of the street has been closed to allow forensic officers to carry out an investigation.

Six Arrested Over Nottingham Street Brawl Death
Police investigating the death of a 19-year-old man in Nottingham have arrested six people. Joshua Bradley, of Bulwell, died following a suspected street fight in Thurland Street, on 08 February. Two men, aged 21 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police in Bradford have arrested a woman on suspicion of murder after she was found unconscious in the backyard of a property in the city. The woman, understood to be 36-years-old, was found along with her two-year-old daughter at the back of a property in Delamere Street on Tuesday morning. They had both suffered serious injuries.

London bombings ‘suspect’ charged
A man arrested last weekend in connection with the July 7 London bombings has been charged with wasting police time. Imran Patel, 27, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was arrested last Saturday, on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism. The arrest followed a tip-off from the ‘News of the World’.
