'Terror cell' members jailed
Seven men who were members of a terrorist cell run by Briton Dhiren Barot have been jailed for a total of 136 years.
The gang were part of a cell who had been involved in Barot's plot to launch a series of bomb attacks in both the UK and US.
Barot was jailed for life last year for planning the attacks, which included plans to use limousines packed with explosions, a dirty radiation bomb and even blow up a London Underground tunnel under the River Thames in order to drown hundreds of commuters.
The gang was made up of Mohammed Naveed Bhatti, Junade Feroze, Zia Ul Haq, Abdul Aziz Jalil, Omar Abdur Rehman, Qaisar Shaffi and Nadeem Tarmohamed.
All the men, with the exception of Shaffi, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to cause explosions in April. Shaffi was found guilty of conspiracy to murder following a month-long trial, which ended this week.
Bhatti, 27, from Harrow in north London was jailed for 20 years; Feroze, 31, from Blackburn, was jailed for 22 years and Ul Haq, 28, from Wembley in north London was jailed for 18 years.
Jalil, 24, from Luton, was jailed for 26 years; Rehman, 23, from Bushey in Hertfordshire, was jailed for 15 years; Tarmohamed, 29, from Wembley in north London was jailed for 20 years and Shaffi, 28, from Willesden in north-west London, was jailed for 15 years.

Life For Shop Manager's Murderer
An east London teenager has been jailed for a minimum of 20 years for the murder of a Hackney shop manager. Kobina Essel, 19, murdered Matalan worker Jamie Simpson on 22 April 2008. Essel was jailed along with three other males, who were convicted of manslaughter. Anthony Maina, 20, of no fixed address was jailed for six years.

Soldiers Jailed For Gun Smuggling
Five men, four of who are British soldiers, have been jailed for trying to smuggle guns and drugs into the UK. Two of the men were caught in January 2012 in a car arriving at Folkestone from Calais carrying firearms, cocaine and ammunition.

Following a series of raids by police on properties in London, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire in 2008, Simon Ford, 41, was convicted for being part of a £80m drugs and money laundering operation.
