Investigation launched into Glasgow rape
Police have launched an investigation after a woman was raped on a filing station forecourt in Glasgow at the weekend.
The attack happened around 3:30am on Sunday morning. A 30-year-old woman was sitting on a wall at the BP Garage in Elmbank Street, between Bath Lane and Elmbank Crescent, when she was grabbed from behind by a man who then dragged her to the corner of the forecourt where she was raped.
The man responsible is described as being white, late twenties to early thirties and 6ft in height. He had dark hair, may have been wearing a dark sweater or top and dark denims and spoke with a Glasgow accent.
It is believed that the man may have sustained a slight injury in committing the assault.
Police also want to speak to a man who spoke to the victim outside the Jumpin Jax nightclub in Sauchiehall Street before the attack.
Detective Sergeant Steven Watson said: "CCTV enquiries reveal that the victim, who has an English accent, was seen in conversation with a male outside Jumpin Jax nightclub at approximately 0300 BST on June 17.
"The male is described as whie, approximately 6ft tall, short brown hair, slim-medium build, mid-twenties, wearing a charcoal or dark-coloured v-neck sweater with a white collared shirt beneath.
"He was in the company of another male of heavier build, similar height with either a shaved head or very light-coloured crew-cut hair.
"We are seeking to to establish whether this male accompanied the victim any further and would like him or his companion to contact us so that they can assist with enquiries."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on: 0141 532 3232 or Crimestoppers anonymously on: 0800 555 111.
