Minister pledges flood relief cash
Communities Secretary Hazel Blears has pledged funding to local authorities to help with flood relief.
Health Secretary Alan Johnson, who is the MP for Hull, recently visited Hull which he described as "the forgotten city."
Ms Blears is visiting Hull on Friday, after a visit to Sheffield.
The government's response has been defended by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears who said some assistance would be provided. She said: "Local authorities can make a claim on central government for some of the costs they are incurring."
Initial estimates put the damage and costs in excess of £200m in Hull alone.
Thousands of properties in the regions of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire hit by the floods remain uninhabitable.

A Bigger Role For Communities In Inspiring Young People
Young people will get extra encouragement to unlock their talents as part of a £10m Inspiring Communities initiative, Communities Secretary Hazel Blears announced today. The Government's New Opportunities White Paper argued that social mobility has improved in recent years. Some 600,000 youngsters have been lifted out of poverty in the last decade.
