Briton Stabbed To Death In New Jersey

A 37-year-old British man has been stabbed to death while on holiday in the US.

Paul Ritch, from Cardiff, was stabbed in the heart as he tried to intervene in an incident in a street in New Jersey in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Mr Ritch, who worked as a swimming instructor and personal trainer, was taken to hospital in Atlantic City but was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

He had been on a two-week holiday with friends when he was killed.

An inquiry has been launched by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Mr Ritch had been voted 12th most eligible bachelor in Wales by the Wales on Sunday newspaper in 2002 and was also shortlisted for Company magazine's list of the 50 most eligible bachelors in Britain in the same year.

He also appeared on the ITV show 'Gladiators' in 1998.

Boxer Kell Brook Stabbed On Holiday In Tenerife
British boxer Kell Brook, 28, has been stabbed while on holiday with his wife, who is pregnant, in Tenerife. The incident is believed to have happened at approximately 6am this morning. The boxing champion was stabbed on the leg, however his condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Man Indicted Over Fitness Instructor Death
A man has been indicted by a grand jury in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Cardiff fitness instructor, in the United States. Lavern Ritch, 37, of Fairwater, Penarth, was killed after intervening in a street fight while on holiday in Margate, New Jersey.

Recep Cetin Given Whole Life Sentence For Murder Of UK Holidaymakers
Recep Cetin has been jailed for life for the murders of two UK holidaymakers in Turkey. Marion Graham (54) and Cathy Dinsmore (53), from Co Down in Northern Ireland, were found stabbed to death and buried in shallow graves in a wood some 75 miles outside the holiday resort of Kusadasi.

Rail Workers To Strike On Bank Holiday Monday
Network Rail workers are to strike over bank holiday Monday, it has been announced. The strike will be held on 25 May and last for 24 hours. The UK-wide action will see signallers, maintenance staff and station workers strike in a row over pay. The action follows a vote for industrial action by members of the union RMT.
