Appeal Over Glasgow Indecent Assault
Police in Glasgow have appealed for information after a 16-year-old girl was indecently assaulted in the city's west end.
The incident happened on the footpath leading between Cumbernauld Town Centre and the bridge which passes over the A80 into the Ballock and Eastfield areas, at around 11:30pm on Friday night.
The girl was walking along the footpath when a man dragged her into shrubbery and indecently assaulted her.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 9ins tall and in his twenties. He is of slim to average build with short hair and was wearing a navy blue outdoor style jacket, blue denim jeans and white trainers at the time of the attack.
The area where the attack took place borders onto the local playing fields and the Ravenswood Trim Track, which is popular with dog walkers, cyclists and runners.
Detective Inspector Keith Webb from Cumbernauld CID said: "This was a terrifying and violent attack on a young girl near to a school in broad daylight. It has left the victim extremely traumatised. It is vitally important that we arrest this man as soon as possible and I urge anyone who may have information or who was in the area and may have seen someone matching the description to come forward."

Rolf Harris will appear in Westminster Magistrates' Court on September 23 to face nine charges of indecent assault and four of making indecent images of children, police have announced. Six of the charges relate to the indecent assault of a fifteen-year-old girl in 1980 and three to a fourteen-year-old girl in 1986.
