Electric Picnic Kicks Off In Co. Laois
More than 30,000 people are expected to head to Co. Laois today as the annual Electric Picnic music festival kicks off.
Now in its fourth year, the event began in 2004 as a one-day music festival, but increased to a three-day affair last year.
However, it has remained a relatively intimate affair with just 32,500 tickets available for this year's event.
This year's line-up includes Bjork, The Chemical Brothers, Primal Scream, Jarvis Cocker, Erasure, Manic Street Preachers, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Duke Special, the Stooges, Spiritualized, the Undertones and the Magic Numbers.
US hip-hop stars the Beastie Boys will also play their first Irish show in over ten years at this year's event, while Blur frontman Damon Albarn's new outfit The Good, The Bad and The Queen will perform their first ever Irish show at the festival.
