Man Arrested Over Fatal Suspected Bank Raid
A man has been arrested in connection with a suspected armed robbery in which two men were shot and killed.
The man was arrested in the Raynes Park in southwest London.
The two men who were killed were shot by police firearms officers outside a branch of HSBC bank in Chandler's Ford in Southampton on Thursday.
One man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second man died in hospital. Post-mortems are being carried out on the bodies.
It is believed that the men were attempting to rob a Securicor van outside the bank.
The Metropolitan Police Flying Squad were involved in the incident, along with Hampshire Police. A spokesperson for Scotland Yard said: "The object of the operation was to prevent and apprehend those believed to be involved in an attempted armed robbery of a premises in Chandler's Ford.
"At approximately 10:05am, shots were fired and two men were shot. One was pronounced dead at the scene, the other was taken to a local hospital, but died at approximately midday."
No police officers or bystanders were injured.
Police are also searching for a blue Volvo estate, with the registration OY05 WDU, in connection with the suspected robbery.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission have confirmed that they will be carrying out an investigation of the incident, as is routine following a shooting involving police officers.

A man has been shot dead by police officers in north London. The 43-year-old victim was killed at an address at Picardy House, Cedar Road, Enfield on 30 August. Officers were alerted at 9:35pm of a man at an address in Barnet making threats to kill and in possession of what was believed to be a firearm.

Man Who Threatened Woman With A Knife Shot Dead By Police
A man, who broke into a house in London and threatened a woman with a knife, has been shot dead by police. Officers attended an incident at a property in Islington at around 11pm on Thursday. It is believed that the man and woman knew each other. The woman was not harmed, however she is being treated for shock, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Officers arrived to the house in Cheapside, Shildon, following a series of 999 calls. The victim fired the weapon before police opened fire, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said.
