Murdered Kent Teacher Named
A female teacher murdered in the on the grounds of a Kent Prison has been named locally as Louise Evans.
Ms Evans was found behind her car at East Sutton Park Open Prison near Maidstone, at 1715 BST on Wednesday. The teacher worked for private contractor A4e to deliver the Offender Learning and Skills Service.
Police have not confirmed reports that the woman, who was in her 40s, had been found with her throat cut open.
Hugh Robertson, Conservative MP for Faversham and Mid Kent, said: “East Sutton Park is –normally a quiet part of the local community and everybody will be hoping police can find the murderer soon.”
The woman's family have been informed.
Detectives have been speaking to staff and inmates as part of their enquires, although it is not believed that the murder is linked to the incarcerated women.
Officers meanwhile are studying CCTV images from a business on the road leading to the prison.
Kent Police have set up a major incident room at their Maidstone headquarters.
East Sutton Park, described as a pleasant mansion house overlooking the Weald of Kent, first opened as a borstal in 1946.
It holds both adult and young offender women in open conditions preparing them for resettlement in the community, according to the Prison Service.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Woman Found Murdered On Kent Prison Grounds

Detectives are investigating the death of the woman at East Sutton Park Open Prison near Maidstone, at 1715 BST on Wednesday. Police have said that the teacher who worked at the jail had left the building an hour before her death.

A man has died following a blaze at a block of flats in south-east London. Firefighters found the man collapsed on the fourth floor of the seven floor building at 11.30pm on Tuesday. London Fire Brigage (LFB) said that three engines and around 15 firefighters were deployed to tackle the fire at the building in Steadman Street, Walworth, Southwark.

‘Piano Man’ returns home to Germany
The mysterious ‘Piano Man’ has been identified and has been discharged from hospital, it has emerged. West Kent NHS and Social Care Trust, which had been caring for the man since April, confirmed that he had been discharged from their care following a “marked improvement” in his condition.

A convicted murderer and another dangerous man have absconded from an open prison in Buckinghamshire. Darren Douglas, 46, from Birmingham, is serving a life sentence for stabbing a man to death outside a pub in 1998. Ricardo Dunn, 32, from Burnley, is serving an indeterminate sentence for attacking a man in the street in 2009.
