Man Remanded Over Date Murder
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman he asked out on a date.
Twenty-seven-year-old Karl Taylor, a fitness trainer and football coach, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Kate Beagley during an appearance via video link at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Miss Beagley, 32, from Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, disappeared in June.
Her body was found in Oxhey Woods, near Watford in Hertfordshire, four days after she was reported missing. She had been repeatedly stabbed.
A trial date for Mr Taylor, from Kemble Street, Covent Garden in central London, was set for next February. He was remanded in custody.

Prisoner Charged Over Jail Stabbing
An inmate has been charged over the stabbing of three prison officers at a County Durham jail. Durham Police report that Kevan Thakrar, 23, has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of assault. A female and two male officers were injured in the incident which happened at the high security HMP Frankland on 13 March.

Carehome Manager Denies Two Murders
A carehome manager has appeared in court today charged with the murders of two elderly residents care home she co-ran with her husband. Registered nurse Rachel Baker, 43, pleaded not guilty to the charges. A third murder charge against Mrs baker, who ran Parkfields Residential Care Home in Butleigh, was dropped due to "insufficient evidence".

Five Arrested Over Attempted Murder
Police have made five arrests over an alleged attempted murder that occurred after a funeral. A man suffered head injuries when he was assaulted in the High Street in Newmarket, Suffolk, on 4 June. Two men and a teenage boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
