CPS Receives File On Genette Tate Case
A file on the murder of Devon teenager Genette Tate in 1978 has been handed to the Crown Prosecution Service, Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed.
Devon and Cornwall Police said that the file had been submitted following an interview with a man in 2005.
A statement on their website said: "Both parents have been informed of this development in the ongoing investigation into Genette's disappearance from Aylesbeare in 1978."
Genette disappeared while on a paper round in Aylesbeare, near Exeter, in August 1978. Her body was never found and the case is Britain's longest-running missing persons inquiry.
Two years ago, convicted child-killer Robert Black - who is currently serving ten life sentences for the murder of three girls and the abduction of another - was interviewed by officers in connection with Genette's disappearance.
The CPS will now decide whether someone will stand trial for her murder.
