UK Soldier Killed In Afghanistan Explosion
A British soldier has been killed and two others injured in an explosion in southern Afghanistan.
The soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles were on their way back to their base at Kandahar Airfield, when the blast happened.
The Gurkhas had been taking part in an operation in neighbouring Helmand Province, the first major push since the unit's arrival in the country as part of the Army's autumn troop rotation.
All three were airlifted for medical treatment at Camp Bastion, where one of the soldiers was pronounced dead.
The other two soldiers are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
Families have been informed and have requested a 24-hour grace period before further details are released.

Afganistan Victims' Bodies Flown Home
The bodies of four British servicemen killed by a rogue Afghan soldier have been repatriated today. Major James Bowman, Lieutenant Neal Turkington and Corporal Arjun Purja Pun, all of 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, were killed at their base in Helmand Province on Monday last week.

MoD to name soldier killed in Afghanistan
The Ministry of Defence is expected to name a soldier killed in an explosion in Afghanistan on Wednesday, later today. The soldier, from the 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, was killed in an explosion around 5:50am local time in the northeastern outskirts of Sangin in the Helmand province. Two other soldiers were also injured.

Four ex-British soldiers killed in Baghdad bomb attack
Four former British soldiers, employed as private security guards in Iraq, have been killed in a mortar attack, it has emerged today. It was reported that the Nepalese nationals died in a mortar attack on Baghdad's secure Green Zone yesterday. The bomb is believed to have landed inside their encampment.

The Ministry of Defence has confirmed the name of a British soldier killed in a bomb explosion in Iraq on Sunday. Major Matthew Bacon, 34, from the London area, was travelling in an armoured landrover in Basra, southern Iraq, when a roadside bomb exploded, hitting the vehicle.
