Heathrow Runway Collision Investigated
An investigation has been launched into a runway collision between two passenger jets at Heathrow Airport.
The collision, between a British Airways Boeing 747 bound for Singapore and a Sri Lankan Airlines Airbus A340, happened around 10:20pm on Monday.
Both BA and Sri Lankan Airlines described the incident as a "minor collision" and stressed that no one had been injured.
It was reported that the wing tips of the two aircraft brushed against each other while taxiing towards a runway before take-off.
However, an eyewitness onboard the Sri Lankan aircraft is reported to have claimed that the plane hit the BA jet from behind while manoeuvring on the runway.
BA said that engineers were examining the aircraft to determine the damage caused.
