Arrest In Hunt For Gloucestershire Woman
Police investigating the disappearance of Kate Prout have arrested a man.
Mrs Prout, 55, disappeared from her farmhouse in Redmarley in the Forest of Dean on November 5.
Gloucestershire Police confirmed that a 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. However, police stressed that no body had been found, nor was there any direct evidence that she had come to any harm and may still be found safe and well.
Officers stressed that they are still keeping an open mind concerning the circumstances surrounding Mrs Prout's disappearance and that the arrest was just one aspect of the investigation.
An extensive search is still continuing in the area where Mrs Prout lives and it is expected to last for some time.
Mrs Prout is white, 5ft 6ins tall and of medium build. She is described as having a pale complexion and green eyes and, at the time of her disappearance had brown shoulder-length straight hair, although her hair had previously been red in colour.
She was last seen wearing jeans and a black v-neck top.

Human remains have been discovered by officers searching for Kate Prout, who was murdered by her husband in 2007. Gloucestershire police said on Thursday evening that Adrian Prout took police to Redhill Farm at Redmarley, in Gloucestershire at the end of last week to show them where he had buried his wife's body.
