Voting Opens For 2008 NME Awards
Music fans are being urged to get 'clicking' as voting opens for the NME Awards 2008.
While this year's honours went to the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons and Kasabian - who took home some of the biggest gongs - the public are now being urged to cast their votes for the forthcoming 2008 winners.
To vote, log on from tomorrow (Friday, 7th) at www.nme.com/awards and get clicking that mouse.
The 30 awards categories, which include best British band, best live band and best track, are exclusively voted for by the public and will be handed out in a star-studded ceremony in February.
Dan Silver, NME's Associate Editor said: "As always the awards will be decided by the only people that count - the real music fans."
He also noted that four new categories have been added to the line-up this year for the first time - best band blog and best music blog, best dancefloor filler and best album artwork and added: "By increasing our focus on developments in digital music and the new ways in which fans and bands interact, this year's Shockwaves NME awards will be a more accurate reflection of the current scene than ever before."
To celebrate the start of the voting, NME is throwing a big, rock 'n' roll party, which features headliners Babyshambles, The Wombats and DJ sets.
