Body Of Missing Man Recovered From River
The shock discovery of a body in the river near Longford Town this morning may end a six-day hunt for a missing local pensioner.
The body - belived to be that of an elderly man - was discovered just before 9am this morning by a passer-by out walking.
It is thought to be that of an 83-year-old man, who has been missing from his home in the town since last Saturday.
Gardai say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.

Fijian Man Jailed For Wife's Murder
A Fijian man has been today sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his British wife in a frenzied attack. Raymond Singh, 30, was told he must serve at least 18 years by the High Court in the Fijian capital Suva. He denied killing his wife Wendy, 39, originally from Surrey, at their home in Fiji on 11 May, 2008.

Man Wanted In Connection With Missing Swansea Man
South Wales Police want to speak to 40-year-old David Craig Ellis in connection with missing 59-year-old Alec Warburton. Mr Warburton from Swansea has not been seen since 31 July. Officers have been searching in and around his home in Vivian Road, Swansea, with a police tent erected on the street on Thursday.

North Wales Police have confirmed that a body has been found by Greek authorities searching for missing 73-year-old Arthur Jones. Mr Jones, from Denbigh, has been missing in Crete since 19 June, two days after arriving on the island for a holiday. It is believed that Mr Jones, a keen walker, may have gone out alone for a walk on the island.
