Price Fall Underlines Downward House Price Trend
It's official: House prices in England and Wales dropped by 0.4% in December, taking the average price down to £184,469.
According to the latest figures from Land Registry, this is the first fall for England and Wales since August 2005 - although three regions have actually bucked the downward trend.
The best area, with the largest monthly growth was in the North East - at 2.2%.
However, the overall volume of transactions was also down on the same period last year, with an average of 103,374 per month in the months July to October 2007, compared with 117,086 per month from July to October 2006.

Halifax reports house price drop
House prices fell by 1.2% during June, the Halifax has reported. The fall, the biggest monthly reduction in prices since October 2000, has been attributed to householders' facing rising utility and council tax bills. The Halifax said that the fall suggested that "the heat is coming out of the market".

House price inflation drops
Annual house price inflation dropped again in October, according to the latest figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. House price inflation was 2.2% in October, a fall from September’s figure of 3.3%. The ODPM reported that the average house price in the UK was £186,103 in October, compared with £186,755 in September.

House Prices Slowly Begin To Rise
The September data from Land Registry's House Price Index shows a rising market with a monthly house price change of 0.9% up from half a per cent in August. The annual drop of 5.6%, up from a low of minus 16.3% in February, takes the average house price in England and Wales to £158,377.

E.ON has today announced that it will increase its prices by 11.4% for electricity and 18.1% for gas, with dual fuel customers seeing a rise of 15.2%, effective from 13th September.

UK annual house price inflation in June 2007 was 12.1%, up from 10.8% in May 2007. Annual house price inflation in London was 17.5% in June, up from 14.3% in May. The UK annual house price inflation rate for the 3 months to June was 11.3% and 15.1% in London. The UK house price inflation rate rose from 10.8% in May 2007 to 12.1% in June 2007.
