Girl Convicted Of Teen Mum's Murder
A 15-year-old girl has been found guilty of murdering a young mum in North Tyneside.
At Newcastle Crown Court on Monday, Judge David Hobson lifted an order banning the naming of Jordan Jobson, after she was found guilty of murdering 18-year-old Samantha Madgin.
Samantha was stabbed to death on August 2 last year when she attempted to intervene in a row between her friends and two men in Wallsend, North Tyneside. She was on her first night since giving birth to her first baby, a boy called Callum, just ten weeks earlier.
The court heard how Jobson had drunk lager and vodka and taken cocaine before she attacked Miss Madgin with a serrated kitchen knife.
Jobson, who handed herself into police four days after Samantha's death, had claimed that she had not meant to hurt her. However, the prosecution did not accept her plea of manslaughter and she went on trial for murder.
Sentencing has been adjourned to the week beginning April 7 in order for pre-sentence reports to be compiled.
Samantha's mother, Alison Madgin, said that Jobson had "never shown an ounce of regret or remorse" for the murder. She said: "This killer should never be allowed to walk the streets again as we truly believe she is a danger to society.
"However, the likelihood is that she will be released after serving only a few years and she will still be young enough to lead a long and full life, unlike Samantha."
