RAF Men Killed In Afghanistan
Two RAF servicemen have been killed in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed.
The men were killed when an explosive device hit the vehicle they were travelling in during a routine patrol in the Kandahar Province on Sunday.
Two other servicemen were also injured in the same incident, which occurred about two kilometres west of Kandahar Airfield.
A statement issued by the MoD said: "Medical care was given at the scene and all four servicemen were evacuated to the field hospital at Kandahar Airfield.
"Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical team, two of the servicemen died as a result of their wounds.
"The injuries sustained by the other two men are not believed to be life-threatening."
The MoD said that there would be a 24-hour period of grace before further details were released.
