Teen Remanded Over Rhys Jones' Murder
A teenage boy has appeared in court today, charged with the murder of Merseyside schoolboy Rhys Jones.
The 17-year-old appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court charged with the fatal shooting of eleven-year-old Rhys in Croxteth, Liverpool, last August.
Three other youths, aged 15, 16 and 17 also appeared in court, charged with assisting an offender.
The 16-year-old was also charged with possessing a firearm.
None of the teenagers can be named for legal reasons. It is understood that they are all from the Croxteth area
Two men - Melvyn Coy, 24, and Gary Kayes, 25, both from the West Derby area - also appeared in court, charged with assisting an offender.
All six were remanded in custody until April 25.
Rhys' parents, Stephen and Melanie Jones, were in court for today's hearing. Mrs Jones reportedly broke down in tears.
Thirteen people arrested in connection with Rhys' murder this week.
Two men, aged 22 and 49, a 16-year-old youth and two women aged 54 and 50, have all been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A 21-year-old woman has been released without charge.
Police are still continuing to question a 20-year-old man who was arrested on Wednesday.
Rhys was shot dead has he walked home across the car park of the Fir Tree pub in Croxteth, following football practice, on August 22 last year.

He was charged with assisting an offender and appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Friday, where he was remanded in custody until April 25.

Two more arrested over teenager's murder
Two more teenagers have been arrested in connection with the murder of London teenager Paul Erhahon. The pair, aged 15 and 18, were arrested in east London on Tuesday morning. Paul died after being attacked and stabbed outside a block of flats in Leytonstone on April 6. His 15-year-old friend was also stabbed but survived the attack.

Two arrested over PC murder
Two men have been arrested in Birmingham in connection with the murder of PC Sharon Beshenivsky. The men were arrested in connection with firearms offences, following a joint operation between West Yorkshire and West Midlands Police on Thursday morning. The men are being held for questioning in Birmingham.
