British Man Dies In Water Sports Accident In Oz
A British holidaymaker has been killed in a water sports accident in Australia.
The 31-year-old man - who worked as a doctor - died after falling off a jet ski on the Gold Coast in Queensland on Monday.
The Foreign Office said that his wife, 32, who was also on board the hired watercraft, did not suffer any major injuries.
It is understood the man's jet ski hit a boat's anchor chain, which threw him on to a sandbank.
It is believed the doctor suffered a broken pelvis and sustained injuries to his head and upper body.
Attempts to resuscitate the man at the scene failed.
Queensland police superintendent Jim Keogh said he believed that the man is from Leeds.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the death. It is reported that it was the first time the man had driven a jet ski.
