Man Charged With Bakery Murder, Due In Court
A man charged with murdering a teenager in a south-east London bakery is due to appear in court today.
Jimmy Mizen, who had just turned 16, was slashed across the throat with a shard of glass in the Three Cooks store on Burnt Ash Hill in Lee, on Saturday.
It is understood Jimmy, who had gone out to buy his first lottery ticket after celebrating his 16th birthday the previous day, died from fatal injuries after being stabbed in the neck. The victim's brother was with him as he died as a result of the unprovoked attack.
Nineteen-year-old Jake Fahri, of Milborough Crescent, Lee, will stand before Sutton Magistrates Court, accused of killing the teenager.
Police said that Fahri had smashed his way into the bakery after challenging Jimmy to a fight, which he refused.
He was due to sit his GCSE's in St Thomas More Catholic Comprehensive in Eltam in a few weeks.
Jimmy's mother, Margaret has described him as "the loveliest, gentlest giant" and that he "was loved by everyone".
Knife crime has blighted the capital recently with many young people losing their lives.
Meanwhile on Monday, 22-year-old Steven Bigby died after being stabbed outside McDonalds restaurant on Oxford Street.
Eighteen-year-old Anthony Costa has been charged with his murder and is due to appear before Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court today.
Another man, 19, who was arrested in connection with the murder has been bailed pending further enquiries.
A post mortem revealed that Mr Bigby died from a single stab wound to the heart.
It is reported that an altercation between two groups of people, in which a drink was thrown, provoked the attack.
