Fans Will 'Twist and Shout' At Liverpool Gig
Celebrity megastar, Sir Paul McCartney will headline the Liverpool Sound concert this weekend.
Up to 35,000 music lovers will descend upon Liverpool Football Club's Anfield grounds on Sunday to watch the former Beatle along with local band The Zutons - who will open the show - and Leeds rockers The Kaiser Chiefs.
The Foo Fighters David Grohl is also expected to make an appearance.
Sir Paul, 65, said: "I'm very excited about Liverpool being the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
"We have a fantastic series of events which are sure to get everyone excited too. I'm very proud of the city and I look forward to welcoming one and all and showing everyone a good time. It's going to be a great year."
The concert will take place on the fifth anniversary of his last appearance at Liverpool, when he played to a 40,000 strong crowd at the King's Dock.
John Lennon and George Harrison's widows, Yoko Ono and Olivia are also expected in the city where they will attend screenings of 'All Together Now'.
Sir Paul has downplayed speculation that fellow Beatle Ringo Starr will join him on stage: "That was never going to be on the cards," he said.
"We've got a few little surprises up our sleeve, it will be a bit different from our normal shows," he said.
The extravaganza will be broadcast on Radio Merseyside, and televised highlights of the concert will be on BBC2 at 11pm on the night. Gates will open at 5pm and the concert will finish at 10.30pm. Tickets are still available for the concert priced at £55 and £75.
The Beatles are one of the most successful bands in the history of popular music. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked The Beatles top of its list of 100 Greatest Rock & Roll Artists of All Time.
It is estimated that by 1985, the band had sold over one billion records worldwide.

Six Men Jailed After Whiskey And Chocolate Theft
Six men have been sentenced after lorries carrying whiskey and chocolate were stolen in Kent during April 2013. The thefts occurred in the Dover area. Police said high value whiskey with a retail price of £23,000 was stolen from the trailer of a lorry parked in a haulage yard in Lyndden.

More Talks Due In Postal Dispute
