Two Men Guilty For Mistaken Identity Killing
Two men have been found guilty of killing a teenager as he slept in his south-east London home. Michael Dosunmu, 15, was shot four times when gunmen barged into the family home in Peckham on 6 February, 2006. The Old Bailey heard claims that Michael had been mistaken for his older brother who they were targeting in revenge for a murder. Both defendants, Mohammed Sanoh, 19, from Peckham, and Abdi Omar Noor, 22, from Camberwell, have denied murder. It is reported that Michael was asleep in the bedroom he shared with his brother, when Sanoh and Noor broke into the room and fired a Mac-10 sub-machine gun. It is understood one of the bullets fatally pierced his heart, killing him. Prosecuting, Jonathan Laidlaw QC said "it was a well-planned and well-executed execution", and that Michael had "no chance of surviving". It is reported that Michael's brother Hakeem had been involved in drug dealing and had been involved in three robberies from security firms. Michael had celebrated his 15th birthday days before he was shot.
Two Arrested Over Toddler Death
A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the death of a two-year-old boy from Runcorn in Cheshire. Lewis Urmson-Brown was admitted to Warrington Hospital at 3.30am on Monday but died shortly after arrival. A post mortem revealed that his death was caused by "a traumatic injury to the head". A woman, 39, and a man, 41, from the Runcorn area were arrested and the woman later bailed. The man is still helping police with their enquiries. Police say they had been informed by paramedics who had been called to the house in Halton Brook by a member of the public at approximately 3am on Monday - the circumstances surrounding the child's death are still under investigation.

Open Verdict In De Menezes Case
A jury has returned an open verdict at an inquest into the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, the man mistakenly shot by counter terrorism police in London over three years ago. Mr de Menezes was shot by two officers while sitting on an underground train. Police had mistakenly identified the man as a suicide bomber.
