Display Para Lands On Man
A man watching a parachute display got more than he bargained for when an off-target parachutist landed on him.
The elderly spectator was watching the display when the incident happened in Teignmouth on Sunday during a National Veterans' Day event.
As the parachutist came in to land he missed his landing mark on The Den by some distance and drifted into the crowd.
It is reported that onlookers quickly dispersed but the man became entangled with the parachutist.
He was treated for cuts and bruises at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance. It is not thought that he is seriously injured.
The parachutist, believed to be from the RAF Falling Rocks team, was unhurt in the collision.
Police, who attended the incident, will not be conducting an inquiry.
The Falling Rocks are the parachute display team of the RAF Regiment. The team was founded in 1997 by two members of II Squadron RAF Regiment to provide a spectacle for the Squadron's 75th Anniversary celebrations at RAF Honington in Suffolk.
Their next display will be on 2 August at the Cardiff Festival.
